Woman Leaves Husband on Their Wedding Night to Be with Her Lover

In a surprising turn of events, newlywed Sisasenkosi Mpofu vanished on her wedding night, leaving her husband, Mbongeni Moyo, and their families in shock. The ceremony, held in late May, was a vibrant celebration, but just hours after the vows, Mpofu reportedly left to spend the night with her secret lover, Geshom Gwatiringa, a police officer from Hillside.

The next morning, her husband confronted her, puzzled by her absence. When Mpofu struggled to explain, Moyo checked her phone and found incriminating messages exchanged with Gwatiringa. Confronted, Mpofu admitted to spending the night with him, leading to a tense situation between the newlyweds.

Days later, Moyo, accompanied by his brother-in-law Fungai Mpofu and friends, visited Gwatiringa’s home in Emakhandeni. According to court reports, they arrived around 1 a.m. and, after Gwatiringa came to the door, confronted him over the affair. Things quickly escalated, and Gwatiringa was allegedly struck before being taken to Entumbane Police Station, where he collapsed and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.

The incident led to an attempted murder charge for Moyo and his group. They have since denied assaulting Gwatiringa, claiming they only intended to report him for having a relationship with a newly married woman. The case will continue on 29 November.
